American Yoatzot Grow Amongst Peers and Mentors
September 6, 2017
Jewish law and medical ethics, enhanced leadership skills, and mental health challenges were among the intriguing workshops offered this summer for Yoatzot Halacha (Women Advisors in Jewish Law) based in the U.S. and Canada. The Continuing Education Seminar, sponsored annually by Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center, was funded by the Glaubach Center and by The Arev Fund, which encourages Jewish women’s leadership roles. 17 U.S. Yoatzot attended the Seminar, either in person or on the web. Ten Yoetzet Halacha Fellows (Classes of 2017 and 2019), who are studying for certification, joined the discussions with their experienced colleagues at a lunch featuring Nishmat Dean Rabbanit Chana Henkin, Associate Dean Noa Lau, Yoetzet Halacha-US Dean Rabbi Kenneth Auman and Beit Midrash Director Rabbi Gedalyah Berger.
