Second marriage
i'm reviewing the halachot of niddah with a friend. She is divorced and is going to remarry soon.
I just wanted to know if there are any halachot specific to a second marriage (besides the fact that she doesn't become niddah on the night of her wedding since she's no longer a betoula).
Thank you for your answer, and thank you for your great job.
Dear questioner,
Thank you for your question.
It is still important that she make a hefsek taharah, observe seven clean days, and immerse in a mikveh within four days of the wedding and schedule accordingly. As you wrote, there is no requirement to separate after the first act of relations. In some ways, this simplifies timing, since she will not try to schedule for her period to arrive soon after the wedding. Also, the ketubah will not read "betulah." If it is a second wedding for both the bride and groom, sheva brachot will be recited on the day of the wedding, but not during the week that follows.
We cannot think of other halachic differences. There may be some differences in wedding customs, depending on the community; this should be discussed with the officiating rabbi.
