Fast & vidui
Two questions about my upcoming wedding day:
First, I have a heter to use birth control, and was wondering about taking the pill on the wedding day in terms of the fast and in terms of it working. It is a daytime wedding. Can it wait until afterwards and still work? If not, is it okay to take it before the fast is broken?
Second, because it is a day wedding (the chuppah is before mincha gedolah) I will be saying the vidui at shacharit. Is this the only thing that will change in my shacharit? Do I use the amida from erev Yom Kippur mincha?
Thanks for your help.
Dear questioner,
Thank you for your question.
Mazaltov on your upcoming wedding!
It is preferable to take most birth control pills at the same hour each day. You should therefore take the pill at your regular time on the day of the wedding as well. If you are able to take it without water, that is preferable. If not, since this is a minhag and a personal fast, you may take it with the minimum of water needed to wash it down.
Vidui is the only addition to your tefillah on your wedding day.
