Nausea during relations

3 August, 2014

Question:

I experience nausea during relations. Even thinking about being together brings on waves of nausea almost like pregnancy. Although I'm never actually sick, this obviously has a huge impact on my attitude to intimacy. I also experienced nausea during breastfeeding and I'm wondering if it's related. It's definitely hormonal, so I'm wondering if you have any ideas for me. Many thanks.

Answer:

We are sorry to hear of your situation.

We suggest that you discuss this concern with your health care provider. These symptoms may be treatable; possible options include both hormonal intervention and psychological intervention such as bio-feedback. As the mind and body are connected, it is often possible to train the mind to overcome physical symptoms.
