Extending cycles with Nuvaring

16 November, 2015

Question:

I have been using Nuvaring for a little over three months. My frum doctor said I can use rings back to back without a break for up to a year.  At first I stained very little but now I started staining a lot, it's going on for six days already and not stopping. Is this happening because of using rings back to back, and what can I do to stop the staining?

Answer:

Yes, there is a good chance that the staining results from continuing to use Nuvaring back to back.

We suggest removing the Nuvaring for a week, which will cause you to become niddah.  Then you can use it again back to back for as many months as you were able to go without staining (about three, if we understood correctly).

Please write back with any further questions.
