Postponing mikveh to Shabbat for medical reasons

18 September, 2016

Question:

According to my cycle I should immerse on Sunday night. But I had nasal surgery on Wednesday, so my doctor told me I not to go until I see him next Friday. So I have to postpone my mikvah for five days. Can I immerse on Friday night or I should wait till Shabbat ends? Or should I go to mikvah during Friday daytime?

Answer:

You may immerse on Friday night even though it was not your originally scheduled night. You should not immerse on Friday during the daytime, but you may wait until Motzai Shabbat if that night is more convenient for you (and your husband agrees to wait an additional night).

Please feel free to get back to us with any further questions.
