Resuming nursing after mother’s absence

14 November, 2015

Question:

I am nursing my baby, who turned two recently. I will be away for a few days and I want to continue nursing when I come back. Does the halacha about not resuming nursing after a three day break apply only if she stops? What if she wants to nurse and I am the one who was away for three days, can I keep nursing afterward?

Answer:

Since the reason you will not breastfeed for three days is because you will be away, and not because your child is no longer interested in breastfeeding, you may resume breastfeeding when you return from your trip.
