Stained bedikah on seventh day
28 February, 2006
Question:I am on the last day of my sheva neki'im and found a stain on my bedikah cloth. Do I have to begin counting 5 days (as if I have my period all over again) or just another 7 clean days?
Answer:Not all colors invalidate a bedikah. If the color on the bedikah cloth was not red or pink, we suggest bringing it to a rav for evaluation on the chance that he might find it acceptable.
Assuming the bedikah cloth was, in fact, a niddah color, you should make a new hefsek taharah and then begin counting and performing bedikot on your new seven clean days. There is no additional five-day wait.
