Pink stain after itching

22 June, 2011

Question:

Dear Yoetzet,

One evening in the middle of my shiva nekiim I had very intense vaginal itching. I rubbed the area (with clothes on) and later found a pink spot on the front of my white underwear. The spot was not in the usual place; it was a few inches to the front. It was smaller than the size of a dime. Due to the itching, the underwear may have gone inside the vagina but I think only the front. Would this count as an internal check and therefore be a problem?

Thank you.

Answer:

The pink spot you describe is not considered to have invalidated your clean days, for the following reasons: it was smaller than a gris; it did not definitely enter the vaginal canal; it did make contact with other surfaces; and your scratching may well have caused a drop of bleeding.
