Small stains
21 June, 2004
Question:I found red stains on my white undergarment and a hygiene pad that were each smaller than 19 mm. Is there any obligation to do bedikah if it was not during the clean days? Can I consider myself tahorah without a bedikah?
Answer:If the stains are clearly smaller than a circle 19mm in diameter, and you had no hargashah, there is no obligation to do a bedikah (and you should not do one at this point). You are tehorah at present. We suggest, however, that you wait 24 hours without having intercourse to see what is happening. Should you find a larger stain or begin bleeding, you would then be niddah.
Please note that there is no obligation to wear white underwear except during the seven clean days. It is advisable not to do so, to prevent problems such as the one that you faced.
