IVF during clean days

5 October, 2004

I have undergone IVF (in vitro fertilization) to conceive my first and only child. I must undergo the treatments once again as my doctors have informed me that I cannot conceive otherwise. Based on my cycle, I may need to undergo the actual IVF before my seven clean days are done. Is IVF permissible before I go to the Mikvah? IVF is my only hope to conceive…we’ve been married for 7 years and only have one child.

There is room to permit IVF during the clean days. If it looks like this will be necessary, please get back to us with more details about what is planned so that we can guide you accordingly. We also invite you to arrange a free consultation with a Yoetzet Halacha Fertility Counselor as you navigate treatment, details here.
