Dyed hair is not a
chatzitzah because a woman wants the dye in place for beautification, it is absorbed into her hair, and it has no independent substance.
If the roots have grown out to the point that you don't feel it looks good (e.g., you would want to touch it up before an important event were it to be seen in public), then it should be dyed or touched up before mikveh. But if you don't have a chance to do that, your immersion is valid, as long as the remaining dye or tint has no independent physical substance.
If you are growing your hair out for good, uneven color in the immediate stages does not affect the halachic validity of immersion, as long as the remaining dye has no independent substance. Still, if you mind how it looks (e.g., you would be uncomfortable with other women seeing your hair that way), then it would be best to use a temporary dye or highlights to even out the color for mikveh, until you get to a point where you're comfortable with its appearance.
