We follow the halachic position that some barrier methods, including the
diaphragm, sponge, and cervical cap, as well as spermicide, are halachically permissible forms of contraception. These methods vary in their level of efficacy and, given your sensitivity, you may find some of them uncomfortable. You can read more about them
here.
Alternatively, we recommend speaking to your doctor about some of the newer/smaller types of
IUDs that may cause less irritation. You will likely experience discomfort during and after the insertion, but after that initial period of time, you are not meant to feel the IUD internally.
It is important to stress to your doctor that although you are not experiencing any staining issues on the pill, the other side effects are having a negative effect on your quality of life. See our article on
choosing a contraceptive method and speak to your doctor about finding a good choice for you. Sometime there is a bit of trial and error until you find a good fit.
Please feel free to get back to us with any further questions.
