If you are only planning on using birth control for a few more months, you can discuss with your doctor the use of a
diaphragm. When used properly with spermicide it is significantly more effective than
spermicide alone.
In general, it is common to experience breakthrough bleeding during the first 1-3 months on a new type of
pill as your body adjusts to the hormones. It is possible that if you had given the new pill another month or so, the staining might have let up. If for any reason the use of a diaphragm is not an option, this is an important point to note, and you may wish to reconsider giving the new pill a second chance.
