Tips for nursing clean?
July 12, 2015

Question

I had a baby 4 months ago b"h. With every baby I get my period back very quickly after childbirth and would like any successful tips in nursing clean after you get your period back.
(Someone mentioned acupuncture?)
Also, since I got my period it has begun with slow discharge, then the flow which together lasted 12 days, whereas before it was 5-6 days. Anything to do about it?

Answer

Mazal tov on the recent birth of your baby!
Every woman and every birth is different. Some women are able to nurse clean and others aren't. Some women nurse clean after some of their births, and are unable to after other births. We are not familiar with tips or advice on how to nurse clean. Even with frequent and consistent nursing, some women still resume menstruating.
A practitioner of alternative or Chinese medicine may be able to offer you herbal treatments or acupuncture. This is outside our area of expertise so we are unable to endorse or encourage these methods.
It is common to experience irregular bleeding or periods while breastfeeding due to hormonal fluctuations. We recommend reviewing the laws of stains to take advantage of the relevant leniencies. It is possible that you do not become niddah from the initial discharge, but only when the staining turns into a flow.
