As you are probably already aware, in vitro fertilization (IVF) raises certain halachic questions such as the method of obtaining the sperm and the degree of medical intervention needed for the wife. However, these considerations are outweighed, according to most rabbinic authorities, by the Torah commandment of “be fruitful and multiply” (pru u rvu). There is also a widespread halachic consensus to allow a couple to also undergo IVF in order to fulfill the rabbinic commandment of continuing to have children.
