Question

I have just completed my first IUI cycle with injectable gonadotrophins. Unfortunately I am not pregnant, but my Dr. did say that I had a biochemical pregnancy.

Today is the first day of my next cycle, and I was wondering if this is halachically considered a miscarriage. I usually do not get a ‘clean’ hefsek until day 7 of my cycle anyway, so it probably does not matter too much, but I just wanted to know if I have to wait 7 days before counting the 7 clean days.

We are sorry to hear of your chemical pregnancy and wish you success with your next cycle.

If less than 40 days have passed since the insemination, you have the halachot of a niddah and not of a yoledet. You should therefore wait the usual five day minimum prior to starting the seven clean days.
