Bedikah on veset while staining
May 5, 2016

Question

I’ve been spotting lightly for the past few days on a new birth control. Do I need to do a bedikah on my veset if I know I’m spotting? I’m abstaining from relations anyways because of the spotting.

Answer

Yes, on a veset day a woman is required to perform a bedikah. You may attempt to time the bedikah for when you seem to be staining a bit less.

After the fact, if a woman neglected to perform a bedikah on her veset, she has to perform a ‘make up’ bedikah only for the onah beinonit.

Please note that there are different approaches to calculating vesatot while using a hormonal contraceptive. For more information, please see our article on the topic.
