Bit of nail polish
December 24, 2011

Question

I went to the Mikveh last night, and I just noticed a tiny bit of nail polish on the side of two of my toenails.

Is this a problem?

Thanks.

Answer

No, you need not repeat your immersion. Had you noticed it prior to immersion or while still at the mikveh, we would have advised you to remove the polish.

But a bit of nail polish that is hard to notice, such that a woman does not generally mind its presence, does not invalidate immersion. This is true both on toenails, which are treated more leniently, and on fingernails.
