Bunk beds
April 24, 2016

Question

My husband and I were away for yom tov, and were housed in a room which only had a bunk bed. B”H, I was not in nidda at the time, but we were both wondering what should be done in a situation where the wife is in nidda.

Answer

If the bunk bed is very sturdy and does not shake at all from movement of either spouse, a couple may sleep on it while the wife is niddah.
If the bunk bed is not very sturdy and you can feel movement, you can take off one of the mattresses and put it on the floor.
