Can I go to mikveh if I don’t get my period?
February 1, 2015

Question

I am using the Mirena IUD and as a result I have not gotten my period for several months? Can I still go to the Mikveh?

Answer

There is no obligation to go to the mikveh if you are not experiencing uterine bleeding. If you would like to go to the mikveh for spiritual/personal/emotional reasons despite being tehorah, you may do so. You need not prepare for mikveh in the usual manner, and you should not recite a bracha upon immersion. We recommend letting the mikveh attendant know that you are not immersing out of obligation.
