Do I go back to my veset kavua from the last time I took the pill?
August 26, 2014

Question

I am on Feminet Birth Control, I have been on it for a few months.

Before I was married, I was on this pill and I established my "Onah" that I got my period on the third day in the morning after stopping the pill.

I was on the minipill (Cerazette) and switched to Feminet when I stopped nursing. On my first break (roughly two months ago) I got my period on the fourth day after stopping the pill.

I am about to have another break (after taking thee packs back to back) and I was wondering when my Onah would be? The third day, the fourth day, or 2-4 days after stopping the pill?

Thanks.

Answer

While time has passed and circumstances have changed (pregnancy/nursing, using the minipill) since you were last on Feminet, you should still observe your established veset kavua for this pill - the third day after stopping the pill. In addition, you should also observe the fourth day, since you may be establishing a new pattern.

If three times in a row you do not start bleeding on the third day, then you will have uprooted this veset kavua. You can read more about a veset kavua here.

During the initial cycles on hormonal contraception, we recommend exercising caution before marital relations for the full range of days on which withdrawal bleeding might be expected (per the instructions). On these days, you can check for bleeding by wiping externally with toilet paper, not immediately after urination. If you find any indication of bleeding, it does not make you niddah, but you should abstain from relations as a precaution until the situation becomes clearer.
