Is a fibroid considered a petza?
09/11/2022

Question

Could a submucosal uterine fibroid be considered a petza?

Answer

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Bleeding from a uterine fibroid is generally considered uterine bleeding that can make a woman niddah. It is not generally considered bleeding from trauma (dam makka or petza).
For this reason, we usually guide women with bleeding associated with uterine fibroids to consult healthcare providers about treatment options. At the same time, it is important to review the laws of stains (here and here) to minimize halachic questions.
