Mucus plug
December 15, 2011

Question

My due date is in a week and I am pretty sure I just lost my mucus plug. There was no trace of red/brown/pink in it at all (it was very clear/light yellowish). Am I correct to assume that I’m not a niddah at this point because there was no blood–tinge?
Thanks!

Answer

When the mucus plug is expelled and is not accompanied by bleeding, you are not yet rendered niddah. According to most opinions, this would be true even if the mucus plug contained some blood within it, since that blood is not from the uterus.
