Silver nitrate stains a chatzitzah?
April 8, 2013

Question

My daughter had a minor medical procedure done, and the chemical they used (silver nitrate) got on my hands and has left a few brown stains on my skin. I was informed by the doctor that it will probably take over a week to come off and there is nothing I can do about it. I am hoping to go to the mikveh next week, and I want to make sure that it's not considered a chatzitzah.
Thank you.

Answer

You may immerse with the stains as long as you clean the area well prior to immersion, as it has no independent substance and cannot be otherwise removed.

We wish your daughter good health!
