Veset kavua on pill
January 22, 2012

Question

I am on birth control and know that on Thursday morning I will start my next period. It has been more then three times in a row that it starts on the 4th morning after ending my pack of pills.

Am I allowed to have relations with my husband on Wednesday night?

Also, since I know exactly when I will get my period in relationship to when I stop the pill, should I be doing any bedikot throughout the month?

Thank you.

Answer

If, for your last three consecutive cycles, you began your flow on the fourth morning after stopping active pills, then you have a veset kavua for the fourth day, daytime onah. That means that relations are permitted the night before.

Since this is a veset kavua, if you forget or omit the bedikah during the onah for any reason, relations are forbidden even after the onah ends, until you perform a bedikah.

You are released from observing other veset days, unless your pattern changes, and then you will have additional vesatot to observe.
