Can get hefsek on day six – but only without moch
November 16, 2015

Question

I consistently bleed for 5 days and then the sixth day I spot. I can usually get a clean hefsek on day six, but only if I don't do a mokh dachuk. Is this permissible? It is very hard for us as it is, and the extra day kills me, let alone a potential 7th.

Answer

While the moch dachuk should ideally be performed, in extenuating circumstances it may be omitted. If you consistently find problematic spotting on the moch, it may be omitted. If at any point your cycles change and you longer experience spotting on the 6th day, you should resume attempting a moch dachuk.
