Fungus in nails
July 16, 2002

Question

It takes me a long time to cut my nails before mikveh as I have fungus in the nails. Can I do this in advance?

Answer

You are not required to cut your nails within a fixed time before tevilah (immersion). If necessary, they can be cut earlier that same day, or the day before, and checked again for dirt or other chatzitzot immediately before tevilah.
