Found polish on toenail long after mikveh
October 7, 2008

Question

A week and a half after I went to the mikva, I noticed a spot of nail polish on my toe. I have not put on any polish since going to the mikva. What am I supposed to do?

Answer

Given that that you did not notice it for a week and a half, it is clear that you were not makpid (particular) about its being on your toenail. Beyond that, there is greater leniency with respect to chatzitzah for toenails than for fingernails. Your immersion is still considered valid and no steps need to be taken.
