Moch after early afternoon hefsek
November 16, 2008

Question

I am supposed to do a hefsek tahara and moch this Wednesday evening. However the only time that I can check is early in the afternoon. When am I supposed to do a moch? I am not able to put it in 20 minutes before sunset only more than an hour before. Do I have to leave it in for that long?

Answer

In this case, you should perform your hefsek taharah properly when you have time to do so in the early afternoon. You should then change to whites, but should not insert a moch dachuk at that point.

If you can, just prior to sunset, you should insert a moch dachuk, rotating the cloth on insertion so that it functions as a supplementary hefsek taharah. If you cannot manage this, you may omit the moch dachuk this cycle.
