Finding blood on a wipe
July 9, 2021

Question

Are baby wipes mekabel tumah? Does finding blood on a wipe make you nidda?

Answer

We follow the view that a baby wipe is not mekabel tumah (susceptible to ritual impurity) because it is disposable and non-woven. This applies whether the wipe is made from synthetic or natural materials. Therefore, a stain found on a wipe may be disregarded.

Discharge found on a wipe used after urinating or after relations follows the same rules as discharge found on toilet paper.

Discharge found on something inserted into the vagina is not subject to the leniencies of stains. Therefore, discharge of a niddah color on a wipe inserted internally would generally make a woman niddah.
