Difference between hefsek and moch

What is the difference between a hefsek tahara and a moch dachuk?
Do you take the bedika cloth out before sunset? And if you take it out after sunset do you lose that day?

Moch but no hefsek

I did a moch between skiah and tzeit last night but forgot to do a hefsak tahara before the moch. Is this problematic?

Can get hefsek on day six – but only without moch

I consistently bleed for 5 days and then the sixth day I spot. I can usually get a clean hefsek on day six, but only if I don't do a mokh dachuk. Is this permissible? It is very hard for us as it is, and the extra day kills me, let alone a potential 7th.
