Bedikah looked pink at first, now it’s pale beige
January 27, 2023

Question

I performed a bedikah on my 3rd clean day, which looked slightly pink. It was getting darker, so I decided to keep it till the next day to check under daytime sunlight. I am concerned as I tend to stain a lot due to my IUD.
The next day, the bedikah had dried, and the stain had almost disappeared. It was a very pale beige tint with no pink hue, and was barely visible. But I remember that when I checked the bedikah at first it did look pink.
Was my bedikah unkosher and should I start counting again?

Answer

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Because the pink was seen only earlier, under sub-optimal lighting conditions, the halachic status of the bedikah depends only on what you are seeing now, in better lighting.
Based on your description, the bedikah is valid and your count continues as planned.
