Cervical polyp removal
November 21, 2019

Question

I had a procedure done where polyps were removed from the outside of my cervix. I am bleeding some from the procedure. Is that niddah?

Answer

No, you are not considered niddah.

Bleeding from polyps on the outer cervix is not considered uterine and therefore does not make a woman niddah.

The procedure to remove the polyps typically causes bleeding, so you may attribute the bleeding to the procedure. Since the procedure does not enter the uterus, it raises no other halachic concern about niddah.
