Claiming to be niddah to avoid disclosing pregnancy
September 23, 2014

Question

I am very early in my pregnancy and my husband and I do not want anyone to know yet. Someone asked me if I finally got my period and I replied, "Yes I got my period." But I was thinking in my mind that I am not a niddah, I am just saying it because I don't want anyone to know about my pregnancy yet. Is that considered declaring yourself a niddah?

Answer

B'Sha'ah tovah!

As long as your husband is clear about your status, your statement to someone else that you got your period did not render you niddah.
