Covering hair for Zoom meetings
February 28, 2024

Question

I work from home and occasionally participate in virtual meetings over Zoom. If I normally do not cover my hair at home, is it halachically permissible not to cover my hair while in a virtual meeting that may include men?

Thank you for reaching out to us.
This is a tricky question. On the one hand, if the people with whom you are meeting were to come to your home, you would leave your head uncovered, and you are not leaving your home.
On the other, if you were to exit your home to attend this meeting, you would cover your head, and the meeting reaches into others’ homes or offices.
Unless there is pressing reason to uncover, we would err on the side of stringency here, out of tzeniut, and keep the head covered for the meeting.
