Drying hair in mikveh lobby
February 17, 2009

Question

I have a question about drying my hair after tevilla. The exit lobby does have stations for dryers. Does drying my hair in front of other women present a Halachic problem for others saying brachos/tefillos, etc. Also, as I live in a Chasidic community, should there be any sensitivity on my part to be blowing my hair in "public". Thanks so much for your response.

Answer

Women are permitted to make berachot and say tefillot in the presence of another woman's uncovered hair.

Where it is appropriate to dry hair is a matter of community norms. Presumably, if the dryers were set up in the exit lobby, it is considered acceptable within the community to dry hair in that space.
