If the preponderance of medical opinion is that the fibroid should be removed, and (as is often the case) it is medically recommended to remove the uterus and ovaries as well, then both
hysterectomy and oophorectomy are fully halachically permissible. We hope you will discuss all the options with your physician to make the best choice for you.
Fibroids do tend to shrink in
menopause. If your preference is not to have it removed, then you should not hesitate to discuss that with your physician to see if it is a reasonable choice given your clinical situation.
