Timing of bedikot for a nighttime onah
May 31, 2024

Question

I have an onah on a Friday night and my mikvah app recommends a bedika before sunrise Saturday. When do you do it if you’re not awake at that hour? Can it be done before bed or is after the onah is over in the morning ok?

Answer

Thank you for reaching out to us.
There are different customs for when to perform bedikot for a nighttime onat veset.
One common custom is to perform one bedikah at night after nightfall. Another common custom adds to that a second bedikah upon awakening in the morning, even if that is after sunrise.
