Water splashed on a bedikah cloth. Can I still have it evaluated?
21/12/2022

Question

I left the bedikah cloth that I used for my hefsek taharah on my bathroom counter and some water splashed onto it. The stain on it was very small, and reddish–brown. Now that the cloth has dried, the stain is just barely visible. I’m concerned that the water that splashed on the cloth may have washed away some of the stain. Can I still show the cloth to a rabbi, or should I start counting my clean days from the next day’s bedikah?

Answer

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Yes, you should still have your cloth evaluated halachically, explaining what happened. Depending on the situation, there may be a chance of continuing the clean days as originally planned. In the interim, you should have in mind that your bedikah the next day could also count as a new hefsek taharah if necessary.
