After mikveh, doubts about discarded bedikah
April 7, 2016

Question

I did a bedika on the 7th day of Sheva nekiim and it came out light yellowish with a tiny speck of black and a darker mustard/yellow/beige surrounding the black speck. I have already thrown out the bedika and went to the mikva a few nights ago. But I've been feeling all along that I should have asked and not just assumed it's good. Is that bedika ok?

Answer

In some circumstances, a speck of black can invalidate a bedikah and with it a woman's clean days. Indeed, you should have had the cloth checked. In this case, after the fact and based on your description of this cloth, we would rely on lenient opinions and still consider your clean days and immersion valid.
