Your first
hefsek taharah did count. But there is still the question of whether your second
bedikah invalidated it. If you still have it, you may bring your second
bedikah to a halachic authority for
evaluation. If the color on that bedikah is acceptable, then you may proceed with the clean days as originally planned. If you no longer have the cloth, or if the color is found to be a niddah color, then the second bedikah
invalidated the clean days and a new
hefsek taharah would be required.
Sometimes, making too many attempts at a
hefsek taharah or going too deeply can lead to injury. The best course of action is to make one attempt, checking as deeply as you can comfortably insert your finger, and then not to second-guess yourself and stop there. No further attempts are necessary.
