Delaying period: Progesterone pills on Shabbat

Question

I’ve been prescribed Medroxyprogesterone by my doctor to delay my next period for my upcoming holiday at the beginning of August. Can I take it on Shabbat?

Answer

Yes. When someone is in the midst of a course of medication that must continue over Shabbat to be effective, they are permitted to continue on Shabbat.
