Bedikot with yeast infection
July 17, 2019

Question

Is there any issue with doing bedikot twice (or even once) a day for the seven clean days if I have a yeast infection? There is an obvious discharge on the ed bedikah, but it’s only white/yellowish in color and never pink or red or even brown. Also medically speaking, will I irritate it further by doing the bedikot?

Answer

A yeast infection causes irritation to the area, so we recommend performing the minimum amount of bedikot: the hefsek taharah and one each on days one, seven, and an intermediate day of your choice. Discharge from the yeast infection does not usually affect the halachic validity of a bedikah.

If you haven’t yet, please do seek medical treatment for the yeast infection.

We wish you a refuah sheleimah!
