Bleeding from UTI
February 14, 2016

Question

If I have a urinary tract infection with blood but it is clear that the blood is coming from my urethra and not from my vagina or my uterus, is there a niddah issue? Am I considered niddah?

Answer

As long as you confirmed you have a urinary tract infection (UTI), you may attribute the blood found with your urine to your UTI and you are not rendered niddah.
If the bleeding occurs on a veset kavua, you may not attribute the blood to an external source and you would be rendered niddah.
Please note that, even on the day of a veset, you are not required to check your toilet paper nor look in the toilet for blood. This is the simplest way to disregard such bleeding.
