Cervical ectropion and tampons
February 25, 2020

Question

I was diagnosed as having a cervical ectropion, which has been the cause of many visits to a& bodekes after bloodied bedikos. In your experience, will tampons affect the ectropion and cause it to bleed?

Answer

It is likely that tampons will further irritate the cervical ectropion and should be avoided.
We also recommend reducing the number of bedikot during the clean days to avoid irritating yourself. You should just do the hefsek taharah, one bedikah each on days 1 and 7, and an additional one on an intermediate clean day. You should perform the bedikot gently and slowly and try to avoid hitting the cervix.
If you continue to have difficulty despite this advice, we suggest turning to your health professional for possible intervention.
