Feeding tubes and mikveh
December 16, 2018

Question

Thank you for your wonderful website!
Due to a medical condition, I have two feeding tubes placed in my stomach/intestine, which are permanent and I cannot remove. Will these make my immersion invalid?
Many thanks

Answer

“Buttons” – into which the tubes are placed – that are permanent and are for your benefit are not considered a chatzitzah and do not invalidate your immersion. If there are parts that can be removed, such as tubes that you replace periodically and can be without for a short time, they should be removed before immersion.
