Final immersion after menopause?
November 7, 2012

Question

I think I'm officially in menopause, it's been almost a year since I got my period. Do I have to go to mikveh one last time? I think I heard something of this nature. and if I do, is there anything special/different that I must do?

Answer

Once you are no longer becoming niddah, there is no need to go to the mikveh. Sometimes it is possible to experience uterine bleeding even after menopause. In that case tevilah would be required (as would a visit to a health care provider to determine the cause). In the absence of new bleeding, you do not have to immerse anymore.
