Mikveh after yeast and bacterial infection
June 4, 2013

Question

I am recovering from a combined yeast and bacterial vaginal infection. Beginning on Friday, I took three days of oral meds for the yeast infection and five days of metrogel vaginal cream for the bacterial infection. Tuesday will be my last night of the cream, and I am hopefully supposed to go to the mikvah on Wednesday, assuming I get a good bedikah. I told the mikvah lady I am recovering and if there's anyone else going that night I will go last. I also asked a nurse when I can resume relations and she said when I feel better after finishing the medication. My question is, is it safe for me and my recovery process to go into the mikvah? If questionable medically, what information should I provide to my doctor about it?
Thank you very much.

Answer

Immersing in the mikveh should be safe in this situation. Mikveh water is well maintained and filtered. Do be careful to dry off well after immersion.

Refuah sheleimah!
