Omitting moch when restarting shivah neki’im
November 18, 2014

Question

I did a hefsek and moch which were good, but the first bdika of day one was bad. I redid the hefsek that evening for the next day to be day one, but I didn't redo the moch because there had been no flow, just a bad bedika.

Now I'm not sure if that was the right thing to have done. Is it acceptable? And is it okay lechatchila?

Answer

L'chatchila (ideally), a moch dachuk should be performed if you are performing a new hefsek on the same day you had a problematic bedikah. Nevertheless, as long as your new hefsek was performed in the late afternoon before sunset, your hefsek remains valid.
